It’s easy to use and VERY awesome.

I have premier elements (because premier is over $ 600)

What I PERSONALLY want is the “adobe cs4 master collection” which has a list price of something like $ 2,500 but I can get for $ 500 (if I had $ 500) through the software discount system in my college… It has premier in it, as well as MANY other awesome programs.

So I got Adobe Illustrator, and I want to learn to use it. I’m a total Newbie, I’ve never even touched it before. I have some basic photoshop skills, but thats about it.

Best advice: Take a class. These are offered at pretty low cost at most community colleges and some adult education programs.

If the instructor is a qualified Adobe certifed trainer, the classroom text will be the “Classroom in a Book” series. It is also the book I recommend for self teaching of most Adobe products.

The book takes the user through a series of professionally designed projects, beginning with some simple ones, and progressing through more complex projects designed to introduce the user to more and more of the applications tools and features. The book comes with an included CD that contains the graphics and text needed to complete these projects.

I always recommend the people to each exercise twice. The first time, using the resources on the CD, and a second time using their own graphics and text. That second run through helps the student retain the knowledge gained from the first run through. Plus, by the student having to locate their own photographic and illustrative sources, it has a more realistic, real-life, feel to is.

The problem with online tutorials is that they can only offer some VERY limited information on all of Illustrator’s features. It is an EXTREMELY powerful tool, and, if the user is not willing to put in the time and effort to learn it’s full potential, it will be a HUGE waste of money. I compare it to someone purchasing a two hundred thousand dollar sports car, only to use it to go fetch groceries.

Listen, Adobe. You have proven that you are not in fact interested in what your users think.

So why would I allow you to collect data on the way that I use your products? I expect you to not in fact use it to actually improve your products (which would be great) but instead to improve your marketing, so you can keep on ignoring user complaints, extend your monopoly on graphic industry software and make more money.

I should like you to make a lot less money, so you’ll come down from your high horse and realize what a big heap of shit you’ve ridden your software into for the last 10 years.

I don’t have Adobe InDesign at home, but I want to open my project up to print it. Adobe Reader 9 won’t do the trick.

Well if you’re only printing and not editing you can export to PDF or EPS or even JPEGs for that matter.

While in InDesign, go to File>Export and choose your preferred format.

If you’re trying to open InDesign documents with something else, forget it. Won’t work. You’re only option then is to download the 30-day demo from Adobe’s web site and print using that.
