Ready To Make Photo Magic Tricks? Learn Adobe Photoshop 7

Article by Mario Churchill

Adobe Photoshop 7 has certainly been one of the most effective catalysts in media, entertainment and popular culture. It’s no wonder people are flocking to learn how to use it. Adobe has already released several higher versions of Photoshop (the latest being CS3) but Photoshop 7 remains popular with many users. This ‘old version’ of Photoshop doesn’t have the extras of the new releases but it can still kick up some magic fairy dust. Here are some online resources to help you learn Adobe Photoshop 7 quickly and easily:

Go to http://CBTcafe.com, where you’ll find free tutorials for Adobe Photoshop 7. There are some tutorials that feature higher versions, but the Photoshop 7 tips and tricks should give you a good headstart.

Another site that Photoshop beginners will be thankful for is Jay Arraich’s (http://Arraich.com). This is purely Adobe Photoshop 7 so you don’t get derailed by some very tempting bits offering to teach you CS2 or CS3. The site will look plain to you but the lessons are basic – exactly what you would need if you’re a beginner.

A screen capture illustrates the tutorial clearly so you don’t get stuck in the mystery of the textual instructions. Arraich walks you through an overview of Adobe Photoshop 7′s window with its main features and the all-important menu section. The opening screen is numbered to help you identify which feature is which so you know exactly where to look when you take Arraich’s tutorial.

Photoshop 7 has some hidden features that you might have missed. If you want to learn them all, go to http://Creativemac.com. It features a guide written by Julieanne Kost that will let you in on the little Photoshop 7 secrets that will make image editing even easier. If the first brush you have with Photoshop is with 6.0, this article will make the transition very rewarding.

If you have little patience with texts, we suggest you find Andrew Hathaway’s Adobe Photoshop 7, available in both CD and DVD formats. This video tutorial will walk you through the whole Photoshop 7 operation, which makes it ideal for people who have never used an image editing software before. Getting started includes the introduction to Photoshop 7, interface basics, using palettes, image window, imaging process, everything you need to get started.

The basics part of the tutorial lets you manipulate image size, color settings, resolution and teaches you the tricks in navigating. Once you’ve mastered the basics, the fun part begins. Selection and masks give you access to the marquee tools and options, letting you use masking and transforming tools. You’ll also learn to use the magic wand, cropping, lasso, color and brush tools.

This video tutorial features 11 hours of 151 video lessons. It’s compatible with both PC and Mac and you can learn at your own pace or skip lessons if you want to.

Another site that offers free Adobe PhotoShop tutorial is http://IDigitalEmotion.com. If you’re a Photoshop 7 planning to become a CS user someday, this site is perfect for you because the tutorials are designed for advanced users. There are some very helpful stuff for beginners and experienced users will have plenty to like about this site.

Choose from text Photoshop 7 tutorials that include text effects, playing with texture and backgrounds, creating interface, perfecting coloring techniques and manipulating photos. There are also numerous video tutorials on site so you get to see exactly what goes on.

Photoshop Tips and Tricks

Photoshop Tips and Tricks

Ever wondered why the fashion photo shoots of glamorous models that get printed on the cover of illustrious magazines are so picture perfect? Most magazines deny it but it is common knowledge that these photos are altered or should I say “photo shopped” as the popular term goes. Photoshop is revolutionary software that lets you do almost anything with graphics and photos as evident from the name. It’s a premier graphics editing tool developed and published by Adobe systems incorporated.

Photoshop has a complete generic suite of features and tools which are very descriptive by themselves and designed to be user friendly. The software since its inception has undergone major changes which are all for the better. It won’t be untrue to say that with the palette of robust tools, Photoshop puts at the disposal of users; their imagination is the only limit to their creativity.

There is a minimal learning curve to study Photoshop which is the primary lure and major reason for its popularity and world wide acceptance.

A novice can learn quite a few things by simply referencing Photoshop tutorials which are found in abundance on the internet. There is no requirement of being familiar with a programming language; all you need is seeking out proper howtos and you could be well on your way to creating eye catching graphics and images using this magnificent software.

So without further adieu, let’s discuss a few simple tips and tricks which every novice can start off with! Let’s start off with something very basic and rudimentary like altering the colorization scheme of a photo.

First of all, locate the colorization effect which is present under the image tab, in the adjustment menu.

Provided along with this effect are the hue and saturation sliders which work just like a scroll bar. But before you can use the hue and saturation bar, click and check the small box at the bottom of the dialog box. Checking this box in combination with the sliders would allow you to produce a unified color scheme for the entire image. This tool can come in very handy when attempting to match a particular image’s color scheme with another seamlessly. There you go! Your first photo alteration using Photoshop! It’s pretty easy, isn’t it?

Another very remarkable feature which is incorporated in Adobe Photoshop is creating the blur effect. This effect is used to depict a body in motion, blur out edges and create scenes which require haze.  To begin copy the desired image or figure onto a new layer, now with the selection still activated, fill a layer below the original image with color of your choice. Now locate filters menu and from there select motion blur filter; this would enable you to replicate movement by creating lines that represent motion. All of this is done without in any way altering or disturbing the original image.

With the flexibility and array of tools available, the user is encouraged to try out different techniques like varying the distance and angel of the motion to see what other blur effects can be added.

These are only some very basic tricks you can perform with Adobe Photoshop. Like mentioned earlier, with Photoshop you are only limited by your imagination.

Stranger #13: Amy

This picture is #13 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

I saw Amy waiting with her friend Ellie outside Redhill Station on Friday morning. They were on their way to Redfest but kindly agreed to be a part of the project.
Unfortunately for me, the cab that they were waiting for arrived while I was chatting to them but I was able to snap a quick shot of the two of them and then one of Amy.
One of my favorite tricks with portraits is to sharpen and brighten the eyes a little but in Amy’s case I didn’t need to as she has the most beautiful eyes without any help from photoshop.
Thanks for taking the time to pose for me and I hope you had a great time at the festival.

Palacio Carlos V
adobe tricks

This Palacio was built after the reconquista as a demonstration of the power of the Spanish Kings. It involved for instance the demolition of the tower opposite of the Torre de Comares. However, the building was never inhabited as it was not completed until centuries later (the roof was missing). The palace looks like a perfect 63x63m cube from the outside with a perfectly circular patio inside, which was certainly tempting for panorama shooting…

Handheld pano, stitch of 56 shot. This was quite a trick to stitch…

An update to the original WWTBAM Season 7 Demonstration. The PPTx is now widescreen, the money tree has been slightly altered, the win sequence is slightly altered and the background has been changed to be more realistic. In terms of presentation, video quality is HD and the sound is added separately and synced with the video, not recorded by a microphone, meaning clear, unspoiled sound. Unfortunately, there will be times in this video which is slightly (no more than 1 sec) out of sync. I apologize for this mistake and will try to take more care in the future. In terms of the actual software, it is still created in Powerpoint 2007 because I don’t know how to program using anything else (so if you could help, it would be very greatly appreciated and I would definitely offer a reward). The music is taken directly from the WWTBAM Season 7 USA Soundtrack and most of the graphics are also from the actual show. The only exception is the question + 4 answers graphic, which was recreated based on the real graphics. DO NOT ASK FOR THE SOUNDTRACK AS UNFORTUNATELY I DON’T HAVE PERMISSION TO DISTRIBUTE IT. Please comment, rate and subscribe. DON’T ask for the soundtrack, comment negatively on the fact its made with Powerpoint or comment on the questions themselves.
