Question by yourface.: Where can I find a free program to create animate banner gifs?
I used Banner Maker Pro for a short time, but my trial ran out.

I really need to find a similar program that will save files in gifs or another format that can be uploaded on photobucket.

I found a couple of programs but they saved in swf and gpx, I think. Neither one uploads on photobucket.

u can do it on your phone

this has nnothing to do with it but theres this really cool thing that you can get a free trial of and its called verbose. You type in something and the computer will say it.

How are you going to get it printed out? Do you have a silk screen set from Michael’s or are you going to some commercial place?

If I were designing a t-shirt, one thing I haven’t done but an old girl-friend did for a while, I’d get a set of gouaches and do it by hand. Really, there is no substitute IMHO. If you are going to make silk screens of it, then I would go with Adobe Photoshop (which is expensive but worth it, and you can usually rent computers with it on them at Kinko’s/FedEx). It has good color separations. If you are talking to a commercial printer, ask them. They will probably say either do it in Photoshop or draw some sketches and scan them into Photoshop. HOWEVER, I’m not a commercial t-shirt printing firm. You talk to them.

Even though I’m a Linux person (seriously, I’m writing this on Debian Linux), don’t use the Gimp. While it’s associated with Linux and the Open Source movement, it shares its strong deficiencies in color spaces and hooks for commercial printing — you can get pictures the color you want but you will find exporting them is either damnation or impossible. So if anybody tells you to try the Gimp, DON’T. Draw and/or paint it and scan it if you have to or use Photoshop.

Is Adobe Photoshop undisputedly number one program for image editing in the industry?

Photoshop is an Adobe Systems Product. Now days Adobe Systems is one of the biggest software development companies in the world. This company provides all multimedia application for all community designers. Graphic designers are using its Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Freehand etc. Web designers are using its Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Sound Booth, and Fireworks etc. Post-production artists are using Photoshop, Premiere, Sound Booth, and After Effects etc.

All above explanation is showing that photoshop belongs to the biggest technologies owning community. Now, I am going to tell you about why Photoshop is necessary for each and every designer of graphic designing, web designing, animation, photography and video editing industry. Photoshop has strong ties with other Adobe software for media editing, animation, and authoring. The .PSD (Photoshop Document), Photoshop’s native format, stores an image with support for most imaging options available in Photoshop.

In 1987, Thomas Knoll, a PhD student at the University of Michigan, began writing a program on his Macintosh Plus to display grayscale images on a monochrome display. This program, called Display, caught the attention of his brother John Knoll, an Industrial Light & Magic employee, who recommended Thomas turn it into a full-fledged image editing program. Thomas took a six month break from his studies in 1988 to collaborate with his brother on the program, which had been renamed ImagePro. Later that year, Thomas renamed his program Photoshop and worked out a short-term deal with scanner manufacturer Barneyscan to distribute copies of the program with a slide scanner; a “total of about 200 copies of Photoshop were shipped” this way.

During this time, John traveled to Silicon Valley and gave a demonstration of the program to engineers at Apple Computer Inc. and Russell Brown, art director at Adobe. Both showings were successful, and Adobe decided to purchase the license to distribute in September 1988. While John worked on plug-ins in California, Thomas remained in Ann Arbor writing program code. Photoshop 1.0 was released in 1990 for Macintosh exclusively, and now the latest released version of Photoshop is cs4.
