I enjoy to play with Photoshop…… =P

This is a building I would love to build, but through DesignByMe it costs 397,73€!!! So, yeah…. I’ll never have it….. :(

But if there is anyone interested it buying it or building it with your own bricks, you can download for free the LDD file here! ;)

P.S. The windows and door color was modified in photoshop. They all are available only in white in LDD…

Quick comparison: Tele Vue-60, Sigma 120-400
tele lens

Having come into temporary possession of a Sigma 120-400, I thought I’d do a quick comparison against my lens of choice, the Tele Vue TV60. This is by no means a scientific test – I wasn’t really far enough away from from the target (a calendar) for one thing – so I wouldn’t use this to make any statements about the finer qualities of either lens, but a couple of things are obvious when inspecting the full-size version:

1) The RPF-2804 field flattener (which wasn’t specifically designed for the TV60) makes a big improvement to the TV60′s edge-of-field performance.

2) When shooting wide open at 400mm, the Sigma produces a very soft image. The performance at f6.3 (not shown here) is much closer to the sharpness at f7.1 than it is to f5.6, with gradual improvements at each stop up to a peak at around f9.0.

All images were taken with a Canon 40D DSLR in Av (Aperture-Priority) mode at ISO 640, with mirror lock-up on and using Live View at 10x to focus manually. Both lenses were mounted on a tripod and the Sigma’s OS was turned off. The photos were converted directly from RAW and cropped in PS, with no additional post-processing. Centre crops are on the left; corner crops (top right of the frame) are on the right.

2000mm lens (a.k.a. telescope)
tele lens

Cool! A friend lend me his scope (and his help!), a Celestron NextStar 8i, and using the appropiate T-adapter and ring, here we have a 2000mm lens :)
If you like photography, it’ll be so interesting for you to see the amazing and extreme values… We have a 250mm fixed aperture, and the focus range it’s enought to spend twenty seconds or so turning the mechanism. Of course, the depth of field is just zero. Although, the minimun focus distance is about 5 meters, so you can do macro-photography 10m away from the pretty bug!

Mola!

Nice Scary Video photos

Some cool scary video images:

Cyber WMD
scary video

Ralph Lagner cracked the code of the Stuxnet worm that tried to destroy the Iranian uranium enrichment facilities six months ago.

The code contains two digital warheads. One slowly modulates the centrifuge rotor controller so that it eventually cracks and explodes. The other interrupts the input values from sensors so the plant control systems see raw sensor data that masks the damage being done.

“When digital safety systems are compromised, then real bad things can happen. Your plant can blow up and neither your operators nor safety systems will notice it. That’s scary. But it gets worse. This attack is generic. It has nothing specific to do with centrifuges or uranium enrichment. It could work as well with a power plant or auto factory. You could use traditional worm technology to distribute it as wide as possible. And if you do that, you end up with a cyber weapon of mass destruction.”

Who did it? “My opinion is that the Mossad is involved, but the leading force is not Israel. The leading force is the one cyber-superpower. There is only one, and that is the U.S.
Fortunately, fortunately, because otherwise our problems would even be bigger.”

Ponder that for a moment….

The TED video of his talk just went online.

Horseshoe Bend
scary video

Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona. It is located off Highway 98 just a couple of minutes south of Page. It’s rather tricky to spot but you won’t miss the road sign that says Horseshoe Bend viewpoint, which leads to the parking space. It’ll take roughly a 3/4 mile hike up to the viewpoint so make sure you wear proper shoes as the terrain gets tricky – first sandy, then rocky.

This breathtaking 1,000 foot drop is amazing yet scary because I’m so afraid of heights! Plus there were signs warning us of potential danger and that honestly didn’t quite help.

The viewpoint is not gated and while the rocks appear sturdy it is not advisable to step too close to the edge because if you step on a soft/crumbly spot you’re screwed. Although I know a lot of photographers have actually gotten really intimate with the edge (ie. lean on their stomach or what have you) to get a majestic view with Colorado River making a complete loop around the bend, I wasn’t quite sure I was up for it and attempted a panoramic shot instead. Not knowing how it would turn out post-processed (this particular photo was 6 photos stitched together), I tried my best to get as close as I could without freaking myself out. Yes, each inch forward takes a ton of strength and will power!

Thankfully this worked out. This really took my breath away – height and beauty wise. I doubt I’ll see anything as magnificent – stay tuned for the video which will illustrate just how beautiful this is!
