Select the Path Selection Tool in the Toolbox. Click on a path or shape component in the image window so as to select it. By pressing the [Delete] key you can delete selected path or shape component. To select two or more components shift-click on every one. While multiple components are selected you can combine or align them into a single path by using buttons on the Options bar.

By using the arrow keys you can move the selection or layer in small increments. By holding down the Shift key, you can help moving in larger increments.

With the Move Tool selected, by holding down the Ctrl (in Windows)/ Command (in Mac) key, one can easily initiate the â??Auto Select Layerâ?? feature. Once the Auto Select Layer feature is turned on, you just need to click in the image area over the desired layer to select it without having the necessity to go to the layers palette.

Adult website designers often hold down the Ctrl (Windows)/Cmd (Mac) key to quickly select the Move Tool while another tool is selected. By clicking the icons in the Options bar at the top of the screen selection of multiple layers in the Layers panel using the Move Tool can easily be made aligned and distributed.

So far all I’ve managed to do is paste a clip art object BUT the WRITER program doesn’t seem to let me move the object anywhere on the page. It always appears stuck on the left side of the page.
Any advice on how to “free” the object so I can move it to the right or center of the page?
I’ve done it with Microsoft Word so I guess it must be possible in Writer also!
