Convert Raw Files to Dng Format for Peace of Mind When Archiving Photographs

Convert Raw Files to Dng Format for Peace of Mind When Archiving Photographs

RAW image files are proprieties of the cameras manufacturer their file extensions are unique to its own and do not exchange well over other programs they consist of “.RAF” for Fuji “.PEF” for Pentax, “.NEF” for Nikon and “.CRW”, “CR2″ for Canon, just to name a few. Adobe has also developed a RAW image file extension, “.DNG” meaning digital negative in 2004, Abodes DNG was created with the intention of unifying the individual RAW camera file formats.

Your RAW image is at its most pure, but there is no guarantee that your cameras RAW image will be recognized by available software applications sometime in the future. You may have the most up to date software to read your Nikon RAW images today, but long-term archival of your RAW files do present some concerns. Perhaps 10 years later when you want to access your archived photographs, of your family are looking for that special photo of “Aunty Jan” as a kid, or another photo that might have some historical significance that your photographs many not be accessible. This was a great concern to Photographers at the beginning of the Digital photography explosion, and even the reason why many today still shoot with film despite the advancements in digital photograph quality.

]]>

DNG file format is the answer to this concern.

DNG files also have the added security advantage of saving all of the photo information supplied with the RAW files, i.e. keywords, copyright notices and descriptions. Basically you can have your RAW file completely intact after converting to DNG.

DNG files have the ability to store full sized files or JPEG previews making it possible to preview your photographs in your selected photo viewer.

Using RoboImport (http://www.roboimport.com) as your selected digital photo management program gives photographers the ability to convert your RAW files to DNG files by including the specially developed Adobe DNG converter and enabling the option.

Most impressive is RoboImports ability to embed the original RAW file into the DNG file. Certainly this does produce a much larger DNG file, but it does allow for those occasions when you want access to your pure RAW image file. This really is having the best of both worlds.

With so much to be said of the benefits of RAW and DNG files many new digital photographers might be wondering why in the world all the other image formats may be necessary. Below is quick explanation of some other image formats. This short list is not intended as a comprehensive compilation, but just a presentation of a few of the most common.

JPEG- A common image file format that supports 8-bit color, and produces smaller files with less available information. JPEG is a compressed image format and images to suffer some degradation on conversion.

TIFF- Tagged image format is a flexible format that supports 16 bit color, or less. The flexibility of the TIFF has unfortunately created its own problems with many different variations both lossy, and lossless, some photo viewers are unable to recognize the variations. TIFF although is still supported by many printers as standard for its ability to handle device-specific color spaces such as CMYK.

GIF- Graphic interchange format is limited to a small 8-bit color palette. Gif files are very small making them ideal for internet webpages and animations.

Sea Fishing – Mind Boggling Bait Clips

Sea Fishing – Mind Boggling Bait Clips

There are many bait clips on the market. Everyone including myself seems to be asked which is the best bait clip and what makes it different from the rest. Well in this article I will go through the pros and cons of bait clips and how they may improve your fishing.

What is a bait clip?

A bait clip is a device that allows you to clip down your snoods or trace lines on your rigs thus reducing the risk of tangles and also to present baits effectively at distance. The use without a bait clip can result in your bait being thrown off the hook during a power cast or even worse hitting the water’s surface and coming off the hook without realising and then you sit there watching your rod tip for bites thinking the bait is presented nicely on the bottom when in fact it’s been eaten ages ago by a school of Bass. Anglers refer the use of a bait clip to a distance rig; by clipping down the trace and bait it makes your rig more aerodynamic thus giving you a better distance when casting out.

Main design types on the market

Breakaway Impact Shield

A simple hook over system which physically ejects the baited hook on impact with the water. The cone shaped cap above the hook acts as a windshield to protect your bait from being broken apart by the rapidly passing stream of air during a cast.

Breakaway Imp (Imp2)
Miniature combination impact bait clip which works in conjunction with a fast link Easy to use with fool-proof hook release, excellent in flight stability and offers bait protection during the cast. They can be used with any type of sinker.

Gemini Alpha Bait Clip

A streamlined, releasable bait clip, that has the advantageous option of the one slider holding and reliably releasing one or two bait clips, or placing two single clips in line for larger baits.

Breakaway Relay Clips

A neat plastic bait clip which is fitted on to the trace line preventing it from accidently pulling out of the rig tubing also this clip is very adjustable.

Breakaway Impact Lead
A combined lead and bait clip system. Very well designed as a streamlined lead which allows you to create a streamlined rig in seconds by securing the baited hook so that good casting distances can be achieved. As soon as the lead hits the water the coloured plastic tip is forced upwards releasing the hook so that the rig is free to fall into its intended formation in the water.

So which one do I use?

To start they are all priced differently with the relay clip being the cheapest and the Imps & Impact Leads being the most expensive. Most Anglers would of heard or be using the Breakaway Impact Shield bait clip for years as it is the market leader for simplicity and effectiveness. However since then there have been new designs brought to the table allowing us the angler a spoilt choice of bait clips to try out. Here are some pointers to look at: Cost, Effectiveness, Set up time and how well they suit your needs whilst fishing different methods.
The Breakaway Impact Shield can be added to any rig design of your choice with a simple rubber tube holding it in place. Unfortunately it is not the easiest bait clip for large baits at distance and sometimes can fail to unclip if you go down that route. For Sandeel squid and worm baits it’s a great all round clip to use and very easy to apply. These clips are used a lot in distance rigs.

Breakaway Imps, these are quite smart, The advantage with these is that there is no need to incorporate the clip into your rig design, This clip clips onto a Breakaway Fastlink which connects your rig to your lead weight allowing you to use any sized weight and rig design you wish. Disadvantage with these is that they don’t offer as much protection during the cast as the famous Impact Shield.

Gemini Alpha Clips are great for large baits and also multiple hook rigs as they have a nice long wire that sticks out with plenty of space to clip the hooks down. The only thing with the Alpha clip that I found not to my liking is that in the winter when your fingers feel like they are going to drop off or for people who have no patience! This clip can be fiddly to setup and clip down baits.

Breakaway Relay clips are a simple solution to a problem! It’s just a clip! They could not be easier to use. They have no mechanism or release system, and can be incorporated into any of your rigs, however because there is no function as such they sometimes can fail to release baits at short distances.
Breakaway Impact Leads are my personal favourite and is the newest clip on the market, this clip very rarely fail to release the hook, they are very streamlined because they are incorporated into the lead, and as with the imps they can be added to any rig to make it clip down. Impact Leads are available in different sizes and types ranging from Grip Lead styles to Flatfish leads. The only problem I have found with these is if you fish a beach that has very coarse sand you may need to clean the sand out from under the cone to stop it jamming before you cast it back out. Otherwise the plastic cone cannot push your hook off the clip on impact. Overall this clip is second to none!

Remember what ever bait clip you decide to use make sure you are comfortable with it and that it does the job. However for all you Impact Shield Anglers out there, why not try something new this year and see if it can improve your fishing, with so many new designs you might just find the cure to your bait clipping problems or needs.

Life of Christ in our human body

Article by Dr.Jimmy.M.L.

1. Doctor and patients

We can see that in some people the diseases recurs even after they are treated and relived. For some others, when one disease is cured, another comes. When that is relived, next one comes. Why is this happening ?.

I am a bone specialist doctor. At least half of the patients whom I examine in the out patient clinic shows signs of mental problems like anxieties, depressions etc along with physical diseases. If these types of problems are not solved, there are possibilities that the diseases will recur, after they are relived. Take, back ache as example. It is scientifically recorded that, for around eighty percent of the back aches, along with the causes from the bone diseases, mental tension, in correct postures and in correct walking styles are causes. When the mental ‘heaviness’ influences the body, even the styles by which we stand and walk changes.

It is scientifically proven that there are mental causes to many diseases such as allergy, hypertension, diabetes myletes, heart attack, ulcer, sneezing, some type of rheumatic diseases, asthma, headache etc. The mental tension changes the type and amount of hormones in the body, decreases the immunity against diseases, retards the relief from diseases and also retards the healing of the wounds. We can include the following in the table of mental causes such as angriness, bitterness, sorrow, anxiety, suppressed desires, un healed mental injuries from childhood onwards, and the state of un obtained love and recognition and sexual problems.

The emotions of lack ness such as grievances due to death of close relatives, sense of loss, inferiority complex and sense of failures influences the health in a bad way. “For my life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing. My strength fails because of my iniquity. My bones are wasted away”(Psa 31:10). Because some people sub consciously concentrate their attention to the body to

2

forget their grieves and anxieties, through the working of their sub conscious minds, it changes to hysterical diseases.

2. False desires and lusts

Are the mental problems mentioned before, simply mental problems ?. Is it not that in many of them, there is an element of sin ?. “For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another”(Tit 3:3). Some people lead themselves and others to mental tensions and diseases due to lack of self-control, anger, quarrels, tantrums and also due to improper use of their tongues. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit”(Pro 18:21).

Many are under the clutches of family problems, inter personal troubles, job problems and financial problems. The problems of many are imaginary problems due to over anxiety, fear, imaginary reasons and un necessary desires. Are not many of our problems, due to over desire for money ?. “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows”(1Ti 6:10).

Some people have become patients due to bad habits such as alcoholism, smoking, chewing pack, snuffing powder, drug addiction, over eating, laziness, state of having no physical exertion, over television watching etc. The alcoholism causes quarrels, poverty, the road traffic accidents that are commonly seen now days, cirrhosis of liver, tremor, peptic ulcer and the changes in stomach and liver that leads to vomiting of blood. “Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise”(Pro 20:1). The smoking causes many diseases like lung cancer, ulcer, bronchitis and the stage of legs in which, the legs have to be amputated due to decreased blood circulation in the legs etc.

3. Are humans destined to be diseased ?

We were created in the image of God. All the authority on earth was given to human beings. “God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after

3

our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth”(Gen 1:26). Then how did disease and death conquered human beings ?. Due to the sin of Adam, through obeying “world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places”(Eph 6:12), these authorities were decietdly taken by “him who had the power of death, that is, the devil”(Heb 2:14). Because “The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy”(John 10:10), death and disease entered the world. The following bible words shows that there is a spiritual death before physical disease. “The members of his body shall be devoured. The firstborn of death shall devour his members”(Job 18:13).

Yet God by his infinite love, by the price of Christ’s blood shed on the cross, saved those who believe in Jesus, from eternal death. “So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life”(Rom 5:18). He brought to us success over diseases by the stripes which Christ beard. “who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed”(1Pe 2:24). At the time of second coming of Jesus, because the Satan and death will be thrown to the fire river, “the last enemy that will be abolished is death”(1Co 15:26).

4. How to defeat disease ?

When disease and mystery comes on us, “Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you”(1Pe 4:12). We being ascertained in belief, by the authority obtained through the name of Jesus, should try to “destroy the works of the devil”(1Jo 3:8). “Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you”(Jam 4:7). First we must “remember therefore from where you have fallen”(Rev 2:5). The word of God says, when a believer gets disease “Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective”(Jam 5:16). Another

4

word says “Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven”(Jam 5:14,15).Some time’s miraculous healing s occurs at the time of worship, when the presence of Holy Spirit is manifested.

To testify that he is son of God, Jesus said “Jesus answered them,’Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them”(Luke 7:22). The same Jesus said “Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father”(John 14:12). “But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed”(Jam 1:6). We read about the importance of belief in ‘Acts’ also. “He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and being that he had faith to be made whole, said with a loud voice, ‘Stand upright on your feet!’ He leaped up and walked”(Act 14:9,10).

Some propagate the idea that the miraculous divine healings are just temporary feelings, when people get mental peace and rejuvenation or they are some matters like hypnotism. It is a fact that many diseases that are beyond the human treatment capabilities are healed by God’s intervention. We have to remember in this instance that, nothing is impossible for the God who created universe.

5. Let him be glory

When we depend on him in our diseases, “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose”(Rom 8:28). Some of our diseases become opportunities for God’s glory to be manifested. When Jesus heard about the Laser’s disease “he said, ‘ This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God’s Son may be glorified by it.”(John 11:4). Later Jesus raised him from the dead. Meaning of all what is written above is not that, we should not go to doctors, when diseases afflict

5

us. Let us notice the Jesus’ own words for this. “When Jesus heard it, he said to them,’ Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do”(Mat 9:12). It is written in Apostle Paul’s letter “Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you”(Col 4:14). Whether the disease is healed by direct prayer, through the mediatory prayers of others, by using the authority given in the name of Jesus or through doctors, “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen”(Rom 11:36).

6. Healthy living

Let us now think about the words that show light on the mentalities that are apt for healthy living. The proper use of tongue gives growth to the health of ourselves and those who are conversing to us. “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones”(Pro 16:24). Bible clearly teaches us to control anger. “Be angry, and don’t sin.Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil”(Eph 4:26,27). Through the Jesus Christ who strengthens us, we can be freed from our bad habits.

Jesus teaches us that we need not worry about our earthly life. “Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’.For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things”(Mat 6:31,32). Because Jesus is with us, we need not be anxious about any thing. “But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow”(Mat 6:33,34). As we become close to God, our sorrowful thoughts gets wiped away. “You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures for ever more”(Psa 16:11). “You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience;”(Eph 2:1,2). God’s word says, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh,

6

and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones”(Pro 3:6-8).

7. Abundant life

God loves us greater than our mothers. “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you!”(Isa 49:15). Jesus is looking to us with compassion. “Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them, and healed their sick”(Mat 14:14). God’s desire is that, we be good in all. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers”(3Jo 1:2). He promised us abundant life. “The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly”(John 10:10). Hence let us believe and depend on him fully.
