Arts And Crafts For Kids And Other Creative Exercises
If you have decided that creativity is important for your child’s development, now is the time to start doing everything you can to encourage that creativity. One of the best ways is to provide arts and crafts for kids while also giving children an environment that is open to artistic and creative self-expression. Below are some additional exercises you may want to consider implementing in your home to achieve the desired results in your child.
Combining Music & Art
Part of providing the right environment for encouraging creativity is by joining your child in exploring the fun of arts and crafts for kids. One activity is to take a sketchbook and some oil pastels (they produce better results than crayons) and turn up some great music. If you love classical music, that’s a good choice. However, any type of music will work as long as you feel it’s appropriate for your child. Now using these arts and crafts for kids create a picture of using the music as an inspiration. When the song is over, compare your efforts and talk about the types of emotions you both felt from the same song.

You can repeat the activity with different types of music and compare those results, too.
Cloud Inspiration
We all know that some people can see shapes and designs in clouds, right? Well, practice with your child for a few days and get in the habit of talking about the shapes you see in the sky. Then take your trusty arts and crafts for kids outside, including colored pencils or paints and some paper, and each of you should draw something you see in the clouds. Don’t talk about what you’re creating on the paper until you’re both finished.
Magazine Story
If you want to encourage both your child’s artistic skills and writing ability, gather some old magazines and start clipping out pictures together. Then bring in the arts and crafts for kids. Let your child glue some of the cutouts into his or her sketchbook. Then using colored pencils write a story to go along with the images. The story can be written right on the page or can be type of up neatly, printed off, and glued in as well. By combining both of these elements, along with the arts and crafts for kids, you’ll be challenging your child to definitely think outside the proverbial box and come up with something truly unique. Then you can share your stories with one another.
The Story of the Day
If the two of you aren’t together during the day, take about 15 minutes each night before dinner to recreate some of the highlights of your days using arts and crafts for kids. Then you can share them and talk about them over dinner. This can be a great way to work out any stress or negativity either of you are feeling if you’ve had a bad day. It’s very therapeutic no matter what age you are.

Answer by 876 Try some improv work in public; give people something different to take their minds off their daily shit.
Balloon Ghost: To make this fun Halloween decoration you will need a white balloon, scissors, white plastic grocery or garbage bags, tape, string and a black marker. Cut the plastic bags into strips leaving an uncut edge to hold the strips together. Blow up the balloon. Tape the cut up bags around the balloon to make the ghost’s body. Make sure the balloon is upside down when you tape the bags on so that you have something to hang the ghost from. Draw a face on the balloon to make the ghost’s head. Tie a string to the balloon and hang the ghost up.
Egg Carton Spider: For this craft project you will need an egg carton, googly eyes, scissors, pipe cleaners and crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Cut one section out of the egg carton. For more details www.greateducationonline.com Poke four holes in each side of the cup with scissors. Put a pipe cleaner into each of the holes and bend them to look like spider legs. Draw a face on the spider with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
Pompom Spider: Supplies needed for this craft are yarn, scissors, pipe cleaners, cardboard, glue and googly eyes. Cut yarn into a 2 foot long piece and a yard long piece. Cut a piece of cardboard into a 3 inch by 2 inch rectangle. Loosely wrap the yard of yarn around the cardboard piece. Take the yarn off the cardboard, being careful to make sure the loops stay together. Put 4 pipe cleaners on the yarn loops. Tie the yarn loops and pipe cleaners together tightly with the 2 foot piece of yarn. Cut the loops in half to make a pompom shape. Bend the pipe cleaners in the shape of spider legs. Glue googly eyes onto the spider.
Pasta and Beans Skeleton: This craft project is made with a piece of black construction paper, glue, dried beans and several types of pasta (small shells, wagon wheels, ziti, elbow macaroni, salad macaroni, spaghetti, spirals, etc.). Lay out the pasta and beans in the shape of a skeleton. Elbow macaroni is good for ribs. Spaghetti can be used as toes and fingers. Small shells or small beans make good joints. Lima beans are perfect for hips. After you are satisfied with the layout of your skeleton, glue it down.
Ghost Necklace: For this craft project you will need Elmer’s glue, a small paper clip, googly eyes, wax paper and string. On wax paper, make a ghost shape out of your glue. Unbend the paper clip and reform it into a V. Stick the ends of the V into the glue at top of the ghost’s head. For more details www.greatindustrialguide.com Put googly eyes on the ghost’s head. After a few days, the glue will turn completely clear. Peel it off the wax paper and thread your string through the paper clip to turn it into a necklace.
Jack-o-lantern Pinata: Make a perfect Halloween party item by gathering a balloon, newspaper, flour, water, a bowl, a pot, a wooden spoon, scissors, orange craft paint, a paintbrush and a black marker. Make papier-mâché glue by mixing 1/2 cup of flour into 1/2 cup of water. Then stir the flour and water mix into 2 cups of boiling water. Simmer for a few minutes. Let it cool. Take newspaper and tear into 1 inch wide strips. Dip strips of paper in the glue and wrap around the balloon. Repeat process, covering the entire balloon. Let a layer dry and then add another layer. It dry completely, then pop the balloon, and remove it. Cut a small hole in the top to put in the candy. Decorate with the orange craft paint and black marker, making a jack-o-lantern face. Hang the pinata and have a party!

Creative Christmas Crafts Simple To Do With Your Kids
Starting family traditions is all part of Christmas, and creating simple and fast Christmas crafts should be a family tradition in all homes, especially when you can recycle at the same time as creating thoughtful stocking filler gifts and decorations.
These creative Christmas crafts only require materials you will have lying around the house already, and if you buy a big pack of digital royalty free Christmas clipart graphic images to download, you will always have instant Christmas pictures whenever you want them, and can get amazing results with a bit of cut and paste imagination!
Christmas Placemat Craft:
Using recycled Christmas cards, tear off the backs where the writing is. Or to make it simpler just print out your choice of royalty free Christmas clipart graphic images. You’ll need about three regular sized Christmas card sized images to make each placemat.
Have the kids glue the cards decoration side up down on colored construction paper. When the glue dries, cover the craft front and back with clear contact paper, making sure there are no open ends or gaps.
Kids love setting their plates on their own special Christmas place mat.
Santa Ornament:
This makes a great little gift for kids to make and give their friends or teachers too. Pick up large plastic ornaments at the craft store. These ornaments will open for you to put items inside.
Open the ornament and fill it with peppermints. Secure it closed again. Using a medium sized wooden ball, glue on jiggly eyes. Once the eyes are set, glue the wooden ball onto the top the plastic ornament.
Next, add cotton hair for the head, mustache and beard. Glue a red felt ‘hat’ on top of the hair. At the base of the ornament, glue a long piece of black felt for Santa’s belt.
Glue the front bottom of the ornament to a thin wooden heart that’s been painted black. The curves in the heart will be Santa’s feet.
Christmas Countdown Chain:
For this popular craft, you’ll need red and green construction paper cut into thin, even strips. You can also cut up used Christmas gift wrapping paper from last year. The kids can decorate the paper strips with Christmas writing and glitter glue.
Form the strips into connecting circles and glue each one closed. Once the glue is dry, hang the circle within easy reach of the child. Each day that passes until Christmas, the kids get to tear off one of the links of the chain.
Candy Cane Reindeer:
This craft is an oldie but a favorite among children. All you need are candy canes, jiggly eyes, pipe cleaners, mini pom-poms and glue.
At the top of the candy cane, glue a pipe cleaner, twisting it into the shape of antlers. Glue jiggly eyes on either side of the reindeer ‘head’ and add the nose to the end of the candy cane.
Cookie Cutter Ornaments:
To do this craft, you’ll need an assortment of cookie cutters in various holiday shapes. The ones that work the best are snowmen, Santa, trees and bell shapes.
Place each cookie cutter on colored construction paper. Trace around it. Cut it out. Have the kids decorate each cut out with glitter and mini pom-poms for Christmas balls on the tree.
You can also just print out your selection from your set of royalty free Christmas clipart graphic images in the exact size and theme combination that you want for your decorations, and just cut out around their design.
For the snowmen, use mini black pom-poms for his buttons. You can use jiggly eyes on the snowmen and Santa.
Once each ornament is finished, use a hole-puncher to punch a hole at the top. Thread thin ribbon through the hole and let the kids hang their special ornament from the tree.
You can save yourself an absolute fortune by making your own Christmas cards, decorations and little creative gifts for the family this year, using simple materials lying around the house, recycling your old Christmas cards and gift wrap, and adding the images from the amazing royalty free Christmas clipart graphic images that you can find on the internet.

ABC’s popular Sunday night comedy series America’s Funniest Home Videos is now in its 16th season. Candid kiddy capers and outrageous animal antics beg big laughs on this 3-DVD box set, sure to appeal to entertainment consumers of all kinds.
This second issue from a series of AFV DVD releases features episode specials from the original and much-loved host, Bob Saget, and from today’s successful Emmy award-winning host, Tom Bergeron.
DISC 1-AFV LOOKS AT KIDS AND ANIMALS: There is no greater entertainment than watching the uninhibited behavior of members of the animal kingdom. Blend together with clips of candid kiddie capers. Add a generous amount of Bob Saget, and you’ve got the recipe for a thousand guaranteed laughs.
BONUS EPISODE: 1997 0,000 Season Finale: Bob Saget shows us the funniest clips of the year.
DISC 2-ALL ANIMAL EXTRAVAGANZA This AFV special is side-splittingly hilarious. Host Tom Bergeron takes us through years’ worth of the very funniest videos featuring our fabulous furry four-legged friends, with segments like, “You’ve Got A Bad Dog When…,” “Cats Running Into Walls,” “Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats” and “Cat Talk.” Also getting into the comedy act are birds, giraffes, rhinos and even funny bugs. So curl up on the couch with your own menagerie. Even your pets will laugh.
BONUS EPISODE: 2004 0,000 Season Finale: Tom Bergeron guides us through the selection of the funniest clip of the season.
DISC 3 – BATTLE OF THE BEST – Two-Hour Special Join celebrity panelists Coolio, Kathy Griffin, Martin Mull and Picabo Street as they pick their favorite videos from the first 12 years of America’s Funniest Home Videos. What clip would you select as the Best of the Best? The Booger Boy? The beer keg explosion? The dog with the barking butt? The falling nun? The bucket-headed woman? No matter who you choose, you’re sure to grin, giggle and guffaw all the way through this two-hour special. This three-disk compilation includes as many home videos of kids and animals as you could ask for, including baboons breaking into a car, a frog climbing on a baby’s head, a dog peeing on a bride’s gown, several videos of kangaroos and wallabies kicking people in the groin (there’s a whole subgenre of people being hit or bitten in the groin by balls, goats, geese, etc.), an orangutan trying to tongue-kiss a giggling girl, a bicyclist being pursued by a giraffe, and so much more. And let’s face it, lowbrow though it may be, a lot of these videos are funny; when a cat leaps out of the bushes like an attack commando and lands smack on a toddler’s face, it’s just funny. It’s also worth noting that America’s Funniest Home Videos is the most racially integrated show on television, thanks to the democracy of home-video technology.
Aside from the sheer volume of video clips, The Best of Kids & Animals contrasts the styles of former host Bob Saget and current host Tom Bergeron. Saget was a deeply conflicted man: In his eyes lurks a mixture of self-loathing that he’d stooped so low and glee that he was being paid to do something so completely effortless. Bergeron, on the other hand, is at one with his job; it’s as if he can’t imagine a more worthy task than introducing a video in which his head has been superimposed over that of a man bitten on the hindparts by a camel. On the Battle of the Best, in which the best videos of the past 12 years (though there are some excellent ones from the 2004 finale, included on the All Animal Extravaganza disk, that somehow didn’t make the cut–oh, the injustice of the world), Bergeron moderates a panel of D-list celebrities with Buddha-like serenity, introducing a dog with a barking butt as if it were a presidential address. Inner peace or amoral cynicism? Decide for yourself. –Bret Fetzer
