Question by April D: What is the difference between Photoshop CS3/4 and Elements?
I have Photoshop CS3, and would like to know the major differences between that and Photoshop Elements. I RARELY work with photos, and mostly do illustrations using the paint brush, custom shapes, shapes, polygonal lasso, lasso, eraser, and of course the FX. Does elements have all this?

Okay, for Elements, it has the paint brush and all the brushes that come with Photoshop, it has all the custom shapes that come with Photoshop and lassos, the eraser of course, and by FX, what do you mean? The only real illustration tool Elements doesn’t have is the Pen Tool.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 installed on my computer. I purchased a third part instruction manual, “The Photoshop Elements 5 Book for Digital Photographers” by Scott Kelly. Without going into detail, this is an awful book. It’s almost as if he’s talking about some other software.
Can you recommend a really good instruction manual for this software, that you’ve used and found to be very useful?

Hey!
Thinking of getting adobe premiere elements 7. The video editor. Heard its a pretty good software. BUT I heard you have to register to adobe to have all that it offers. I’m not going to register cuz its too much money. So what wont I be able to use if I don’t register.

Without registering, you are on the “trial”. This has limits such as 30 days of use, limited features, etc. Registering it is basically just paying for it. That is the only (legal) way to get the software without limitations.

I want to learn how to do more advanced stuff in the program. Are there any websites that could teach me how?
I have the user guide it came with but its not enough for what I want to learn.

http://www.adobe.com and select adobe premiere elements 2.0 and select upgrade and watch the demonstration and some sites.The deep you like to go in website those are porn sites and it’s diifcult for you to come out of it.

go into my computer assuming your on windows and then look for “removable disk F:” its not always F: if there is a different letter its ok then open that folder and look at your pictures and drag them to a folder you want to put them in and then upload on facebook…

Photoshop Elements is fine enough for most casual work.
Regular Photoshop is preferred if you are going to make a career out of graphic design. It offers more options for professional printing, vector paths (that can be used in Illustrator), some more complicated filters and adjustments, can handle larger images, and offers scripting for automated editing.
There are 30-day trials for both programs available. I’d try Elements first to see if you’re able to do everything you need:

Keep in mind that if you don’t have a prior version of Photoshop, you have to buy the full $ 700 version, not the upgrade version.

Question by Alicia: How to color behind black lines on adobe photoshop elements 9?
I have adobe photoshop elements 9 and I want to color in a hand drawn picture on my computer but in all the tutorials I’ve watched they have always colored behind the lines of the actual picture. I can’t figure out how to do this on my version of photoshop so if anyone knows how to, please tell me. It would be a big help and I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

You need to use layers.
Use your line drawing as a separate layer and change it’s setting to ”Multiply”. You’ll see at the top of the layers toolbox, it defaults at ”Normal” click the drop down arrow, and you’ll find ”Multiply”
Then add a new layer to add your colours. Your black lines will show through the colour and the white will become transparent.
