Eid al-Fitr @ al-Azhar Mosque: Video

Forgive the footage, it was so chaotic at the mosque, this is the best I could come up with!
Sofi and I were unsure what time Eid prayer was held in Egypt (I heard people tell me times ranging between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.) so Sofi and I left her apartment (after I finished watching the Saints game on my laptop there) at around 5:30 a.m., Ramadan time.
We found a taxi relatively quickly (much easier than I thought it would be to find a cab on Eid) and got to al-Azhar at 5:45 a.m. Ramadan time, still a good 20 minutes before the adhan.
So now we know, Eid prayer is roughly 6 a.m. Ramadan time, 7 a.m. real time.
Boy was it packed. Enjoy the video, in 1080p HD filmed with my Canon T2i / 550d

The cats were missing for awhile. Carolyn finally found out why. They had found a snake! That’s about the 5th baby snake we’ve found in the house in the 10 yrs we’ve lived here.
batting, biting, carrying, grabbing, jumping, running, wagging tail, watching.
Lemonjello the cat, Oranjello the cat, snake.

Magic Water Fountain Light at Night Garden

This magic water fountain spreads it’s glowing light at the night garden in Puerto Cruz de Tenerife. The glow of the LED lightning made this garden water pond to be a perfect model for a long exposure photo.
This picture was created for my refreshing friend epSos.de and can be used for FREE.
The glowing stream of magic light illuminated the fresh cold air while the rain drops fell into the cool water of this artificial garden pond.

holgaSamples

Sample of my Holga Photoshop script in action. It can be found here:
exordium.concepthouse.com/CHHolga.js
If you use it, try and tag your photo with "holga-s" and/or "CHHolga" so that searches can be done for simulated holgas.
This one has tons of variability and randomness built in, so everytime you run it on an image you are going to get something new (just like using a real Holga). I’m not sure it’s any better than some of the PS Actions that are out there but it does leave the document state with all editable layers so that things can be tweaked after it is finished. In addition, actions are usually only suited to a single sized image and you have to edit the script each time you use an image that is a different size. This script handles the image size correctly and all effects are scaled based on the image size (including the amount of noise, etc.).
It features: light leaks, light abberations, film grain, blurry fall-off at the edges, film blurriness due to buckling, and your usual adjustment tweaks.
There is a color light leaks layer that can/should be turned off if you are using it on a B&W image. Just turn off that layer when the script is done.
See the techniques group for more info. Specifically, my post about this script.

Revealed

I am not shy with Photoshop. My photographs are not sacred, holy or untouchable. I enjoy taking a photograph and pushing it further. These are my photographs but I respect that others feel it is not photography. I don’t tell them what to do with their photographs though.
Orange Bread asked to see the original of this shot (Flickr seems to have lost the ability to put images in descriptions, damn.)
So here it is. Quite different as you can see. Three layers were used. The most dramatic layer is the top one, the Channel Mixer. Its blend mode is set to Color Burn. I erased the mask on it over the water at the bottom though as it didn’t look nice. Then there is a simple layer with some airbrushed black on it that darkens the water area. Then we have a Color Balance layer to give everything a nice purpley/blue tinge.
