Question by starry: How come my computer only shows desktop and not the icons and task bar?
When I log in my computer, I could only see my desktop and not the icons and task bar. Not only I can’t access any programs, I couldn’t even shut it down (so I have to shut it down by the start & restart buttons)

Also I tried CTRL + ALT + DELETE (opening task manager) but doesn’t work.

Yes, I have attempted going into safe mode on my computer but it still doesn’t show the icons and task bar.

Any ideas on how to restore my icons and task bar?

Not sure if this will work, my partner had the same problem tonight, he shut off the tower of his comp by hitting the little reset button below the turn off switch and they all came back, it was a virus on his comp that caused this, so if this works, i suggest you unistall anything that you may have recently installed and then restore back to your last good system operation date, i hope this works for you, as it worked for him, good luck
