Julia Fox Garrison is the author of Don’t Leave Me This Way (or when I get back on my feet you’ll be sorry). The book chronicles her struggle to regain control over her life and her body, following a massive hemorrhage resulting in a paralyzing stroke. Julia has harnessed her first-hand experience in battling the medical establishment into a compelling message of strength and hope. Wielding her trademark humor and optimism, she transcends the sobering subject of stroke to show how anyone facing a life challenge can overcome adversity through laughter, boundless enthusiasm and unflinching determination.

Julia has been a special guest on local, US and Canadian television and radio programs.  She is a highly sought after and acclaimed Keynote Speaker, conducting hundreds of lectures and presentations nationwide. Julia has lectured at medical conferences where she evangelizes for humaneness in medicine. Speaking from the patient’s perspective, she espouses the value of quality patient care. She also speaks to support and patient advocacy groups, businesses and community organizations where she shares her story of personal triumph against overwhelming odds.

Julia was raised in Andover, MA, in a loving if chaotic household with eight brothers; an upbringing that no doubt made her battle ready for the literal fight of her life. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs School, Boston and Champlain College, Burlington, VT. Julia was an accomplished Manager of Software Support at her company when she suffered the debilitating injury that effectively ended her career in the corporate world. Thus began her journey of rediscovery. Julia currently resides with her husband Jim, son Rory, and dog Shaggy in a suburb outside Boston.
